MeidasTouch and Retire Rubio Unveil New Hard-Hitting Holiday Ad “Fire Liddle Marco the Elf"

Super PAC Releases Animated Ad Hammering Senator Marco Rubio for Stonewalling Critical COVID-19 Relief

CORAL GABLES, FL — Continuing their effort to expose the rampant corruption and heartlessness of Florida’s Senior Senator, today Retire Rubio, a Super PAC dedicated to defeating U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, in partnership with MeidasTouch, unveiled a powerful holiday-themed animated video ad targeting Rubio, as first reported by Politico.

“Little Marco the Elf”, uses the imagery and themes from the iconic “Elf on the Shelf” doll to highlight how Little Marco gave gifts to his big donors in Wall Street, the NRA, and Big Sugar, while stonewalling critical COVID-19 relief for everyday Floridians.

Reacting to the release of the hard-hitting ad, Ben Pollara, one of the founders of the Retire Rubio PAC, remarked:

“Little Marco will forever be known as Little Marco, thanks to one-termer Donald Trump. As we show in the ad, even during this holiday season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Little Marco the Elf has continued to side with Mitch McConnell and his corporate donors over Americans who are hurting, and worse, dying. Maddeningly, Little Marco has repeatedly held up critical COVID-19 relief bills, forever prioritizing his big donors ahead of the people of Florida.”

Previously, Retire Rubio released the viral ad “Little Marco”, which received over 1.8 million organic views online and which features Donald Trump’s questioning of Rubio’s electability as well as former Florida Governor Jeb Bush's skewering of Rubio’s absences in the U.S. Senate.

Pollara has a long history of success in statewide campaigns in Florida. He recently managed the successful initiative to raise Florida's minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2026 as well as Miami Rep. Nick Duran's reelection to a third term. Pollara was previously a Senior Advisor to Ag Commissioner Nikki Fried's 2018 campaign and the strategist who passed medical marijuana in 2016.

In addition to Pollara, Retire Rubio is being advised by rising star in Democratic congressional campaign circles, Nick Merlino. A Miami native, Merlino just managed one of the most competitive congressional campaigns in Texas in 2020 and is a veteran of Florida's medical marijuana campaigns.

Dave Jacobson, a former CNN political commentator, and Mac Zilber, both Democratic ad makers and co-founders of the award-winning political media firm J&Z Strategies, will serve as Retire Rubio's media team.

Retire Rubio is partnering with MeidasTouch, a leading progressive super PAC that produced over 140 videos in its effort to help defeat Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
