TikTok teens troll Trump again, tank campaign app’s rating
TikTok teens flooded Apple’s App Store to write negative reviews about Trump’s 2020 campaign app tanking the app’s rating, according to Bloomberg.
The TikTok teens were able to write 700 negative reviews about Trump’s app on Wednesday in retaliation for the Trump administration threatening to ban TikTok in the United States. On Thursday evening, the app’s rating had fallen to just 1.2 stars with 226,000+ reviews.
For those who aren’t social media fluent, TikTok is an extremely popular social media app amongst teens and has over 80 million downloads in the United States and over 2 billion worldwide. However, the app is owned by China’s Bytedance Ltd. and there is a worry that the app could be Chinese spyware.
Nonetheless, DeJuan Booker, who has more than 750,000 TikTok followers, started a movement by posting step-by-step instructions on how to lower the Trump app’s rating. The video has amassed at least 6.5 million views so far.
“Do I think that this is going to fundamentally change the election? No,” said Tim Lim, a veteran Democratic digital strategist via Bloomberg. “But it goes to show that they are just as susceptible to these mass actions as anyone else. Trump is starting to see what it feels like to have a massive online army committed to defeating him.”
The TikTok army has not been shy to voice its outrage against Donald Trump as this is the second time TikTok users have trolled the president.
Back in June when Trump hosted a sparsely attended rally in Tusla, TikTok users signed up for the event to inflate sign up numbers with no intentions of showing.
The New York Times said the rally had only 6,200 people after the Trump campaign touted that one million people had signed up for the rally.
Coming from MeidasTouch, we can only tip our hat to the TikTok army that has been roasting Trump.
